ESPN’s Bill Simmons spoke his peace when he said a week ago that NFL commissioner Roger Goodell is being a liar during a press conference on Domestic Violence. Simmons swears that Goodell knew what was on the tape, and is persistent about having him take a lie detector test. Simmons employed an immense of profanity during his speech and was very insulted when Simmons went into the press conference pretending he didn’t know what was going on.
Roger Goodell feels he has done nothing wrong with speaking out and maintains that no one knew of the surveillance tape until TMZ posted the video on September 8th. Though the commissioner had justified suspending Rice for two games, the commissioner is stating that Ray Rice Misled him.
Sources say TMZ was not the first to get the tape, and that law enforcement was on the case. Apparently back in June when Rice met with the commissioner along with Rice’s attorney things where explained correctly. Though all this was downplayed and a way to protect Rice from a stiffer penalty at the time Goodell and others seemed disinterested in pursuing a case.
