Gabrielle Union and Dwayne Wade Get Hitched

Weddings are the in thing this past weekend and we all love to hear about them. From Football to Basketball Gabrielle Union knows her sports and the man she wants to marry. Gabrielle Union, an actress and former model has moved on from her marriage to Chris Howard and has married Basketball player Dwayne Wade from the Miami Heat basketball team. Not only did some friends and family attend but also some celebrities, including Jonathan Cheban, best friend to reality star Kim Kardashian.
In 2013 Gabrielle and Dwayne took a little break from their relationship, during that time Dwayne had fathered a child, but that didn’t hold the couple back this weekend, if anything maybe it made things between them a little stronger.
Wade, originally from Chicago, Illinois and Union from Omaha, Nebraska have no children together, yet that is. Wade has three children, two from a previous marriage and one from his time apart from Gabrielle with another woman.

Scott Disick Falls Into an Even Deeper Depression

We know Scott Disick as the boyfriend of Kourtney Kardashian, father of two with one on the way, from that reality show The Kardashians. However, we also know Scott has a history of Alcohol problems, punching mirrors, and staying out late at nights. While worrying Kourtney and not being a hundred percent on board with her third pregnancy, it’s no surprise we are now finding out now that Scott is suffering from depression.
Of course, alcohol is a depressant and Scott was recently in a Long Island Hospital for Alcohol poisoning over the summer, but shortly after he made time for his house party in Southampton the weekend of August 23rd 2014, while Kourtney and their children were caught leaving an airport shortly before the party.
But with Millions of dollars in the bank and years of being in the public eye, why is he so stressed? Well Mental Illness has no boundaries we are all privy to it. Since the loss of Robin Williams several stars have now come out with saying they too have depression.
Depression can be genetic, lifelong, and can be a very lonely existence for someone. Did depression cause all these problems for Scott Disick? Or could he have prevented a lot of his circumstances? Scott has always referred himself as “the lord”, loves money, fame, and most of all partying.Hopefully Scott will get the help he needs, marry his longtime love Kourtney, stop partying and for one be the father he needs to be, set an example for your children.

What it Takes to Hold Onto a Marriage in 2014?

With divorce statistics as high as 50 percent, and 90 percent when having children with special needs, what does it take to hold onto a marriage in today’s society? When you are newly married you are considered to be in the honeymoon stage. You’re filled with love and passion and everything seems right with the world. It may be like that for weeks, months and even years, until one day you have your first child, or whatever else, and suddenly realize the honeymoon has ended.
Welcome to the real world. You probably have a kid now and a husband who likely acts like a second kid. So, where do you fit into all this? If you don’t have friends in the same boat it can be quiet lonely, family may or may not be in the picture. If that’s case how do you maintain it all?
Communication and lack there of is not a good sign in any relationship. Coming from a very communicative family, I have to voice everything, but voicing everything to your husband isn’t necessarily a good thing. Keep the pathways open but don’t bombard with everything that happens throughout your life leave that for your friends, family, or counselor.
Intimacy is a big part of having a connection within your marriage. If it isn’t there then you can’t bond with another the way we are meant to bond. Though there are other ways of bonding holding hands, kissing, and having every day conversation, keeping the spark alive in your marriage is a must. Most marriages end because of no sex with in the marriage.
Having children is not a good way to hold onto a marriage that is in trouble. Some people end up pregnant just to hold onto what they have, and once having a child some stay in a relationship just for the children. It is better for the child to have two healthy parents, married or divorced, then to have two parents in an unhappy marriage.
Independence is key as well. When married, having a life outside of that marriage counts. Having a job you love, getting your hair done, nails, or just simply going out to eat by yourself is important. It not only gives you a sense of independence, but it keeps you going, it gives you space between you and your loved one.
Understand that we live in a different world today then the world are grandparents grew up in. Put your technology down for one second makes a difference, it actually leaves time for communication. Make time for your family regardless of your work schedule. Family should be your number one priority, even if it means you sit and watch TV, go to a park, or go to an event, making time for your loved ones are just as important as making time for yourself

The End of Marriage?: Why More Women Are Choosing to Stay Single

There was a time when women would marry and be stay at home mothers. Not all, but most women, have changed their minds and opted to be single, more educated, and become career oriented.
Who wants to depend on a man for security? Most women want to feel secure financially, they want their independence and they certainly don’t want a man to rule the roost. With our financial burdens already, why make it harder on yourself, if your dream is not to marry then don’t.
Not everyone is meant to marry, you come into this world as one, why not continue being that one person who makes a difference? I have two relatives who never married and from what I remember they were very happy, bubbly, and they are the ones I remember, because they were individual people. Something I did not understand as a child coming from a two family home, but something I understand today and think of as remarkable.
Being a career woman sometimes requires long hours, a lot of focus, dedication, and commitment on one’s part. It can even mean relationship struggles, missing your kids milestones, and keep up with the cost to maintain a full life.  Being single makes it that much easier to achieve what you want there are no strings attached, but being married with kids does not discount you from achieving it, it just makes it that much harder.
People say well your married, you don’t understand what it’s like to be single, but just because you’re married does not mean, you were never single in your lifetime. As a single person you live day in and day out by yourself, sometimes it can be lonely, scary and a little overwhelming, you may even want that someone to cuddle with. But even married people can get those same feelings time to time. It’s not uncommon to have these feelings, but weighing the pros and cons of a relationship is what you must do to keep afloat.
As a married woman would I choose to stay single if I could do it all over again? I believe I have learned a lot over the years being married, but I always wanted a husband, kids, and the life I have today. If that life where to change due to unknown circumstances, then yes I would consider being single.
Why? Because I know what it takes to keep a marriage and I also know what it takes to be single; both scenarios are hard work. No life is cut and dry, happiness is created by the way you think, not determined by the way others think, or how others treat you, but by you as a person. As a indivual you are the key to your success, and you are in control of your destiny!

America and the Cost of Having Babies: Can it be Done?

Within eighteen years the cost of having one child is close to two hundred thousand  dollars including food, housing, childcare, education, healthcare, clothing, and transportation, but not including college. The joy of having kids is like no other, but the cost may put a hold on your choice to have a child or two, can having a child really be done in America today?
With debt school loans owed, the economy and the stresses put on us today, it’s almost impossible to sit back, relax and enjoy having a child. However, when having children you also have to think about who will care for your kids while you’re working to afford them, with one or two jobs needed you most likely will need family to help, friends, a local sitter, or possible an Au pair-Nanny to live with you.
When getting pregnant and trying to conceive you have regular visits to the doctor, having health insurance for yourself and your baby is the first most important thing, just growing a baby is costly and without insurance your hospital birth would be thousands along with your doctor visits.
Healthcare when having children is a big factor, as children always need the best care, between vaccinations, colds, flus, or just a simple ear infection health insurance is a must, New York State provides Child Health Plus a program which helps lowers your cost, and covers most primary care doctors in your area.
For transportation there are buses and trains to get you to where you have to go for doctors appointments for your child, but a car is needed when you don’t have access to other transportation. Whether you’re paying for transportation or driving yourself and paying for gas, either way it is a cost to you.
While today money has become important it is not everything and if you wait till you have it, you may never grow your family at the time that best suits you. While there are trying times when having a child, there are special times such as baby’s first word, there first step, and many milestones that not every parent gets to see.
Holidays are a special time of the year, of course if you have children you know the expenses the holidays bring. There’s Halloween and with each child its fifty dollars per outfit, Thanksgiving dinner which can be well over a hundred dollars, and Christmas which can be easily a hundred dollars a child with just ten or more gifts to give, but you can learn to shop cheaper.
Most Christmas gifts you can buy well in advance, when there on sale, or at a Walmart. You don’t have to wait till the last minute. And don’t forget those birthdays!
Housing costs are through the roof you may have an extra room available but if not, your kids will share rooms, or you may want to search for a new house, whatever it is factor that in as well. Though all this seems daunting the fact is having a child can be done, you can still afford what you want you just have to budget and sacrifice things for having a child time to time, it’s not everyday someone can be a mom or dad, do it while you can, and don’t look back, anything is possible in America.
